Description:
Ofqual data is linked to UCAS data.
Ofqual data includes information on GCSE and A level qualifications and examinations taken by students of all ages in England between 2017 and 2024.
Ofqual data includes detailed information on the qualifications taken (such as subject and tier of entry) and granular data on students’ attainment. For 2017 to 2019 and for 2022 to 2024 when exams were taken normally, the data set includes qualification grades and marks (incl. post-review grades). For 2020, the data set includes Centre Assessment Grades and calculated grades from the
standardisation model, which were used to determine the awarded grade. For 2021, the data set includes Teacher Assessment Grades. Ofqual data also includes indicators of students’ prior attainment, students’ demographic information and qualification grade boundaries.
UCAS data is based on the information gathered to operate the university admissions process. This includes data submitted by applicants to the UCAS undergraduate scheme and by the HE provider (HEP) receiving prospective students’ applications. UCAS data features three main tables:
• the applicant table includes data on demographic characteristics (e.g.gender, age, geographical region) and socio-economic characteristics (e.g.ethnicity, socio-economic background, deprivation index).
• the apply qualifications table is at qualification level and contains information on qualifications declared by the applicant in their application, including the A level grades predicted by teachers.
• the applications table contains the data included in each application made by an applicant, the decision made by each HEP (e.g. unconditional, conditional, reject) and the reply from the applicant (e.g. firm or insurance).
