Description:
The Family Resources Survey (FRS) is a continuous survey which collects information on the income and circumstances of individuals living in a representative sample of private households in the United Kingdom. The survey has been running in Great Britain since October 1992 and was extended to cover Northern Ireland in 2002/03.
The primary objective of the FRS is to provide the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) with information to inform the development, monitoring and evaluation of social welfare policy. Detailed information is collected on:
- respondents’ incomes from all sources including benefits, tax credits and pensions;
- housing tenure; caring needs and responsibilities;
- disability;
- expenditure on housing;
- education;
- childcare;
- family circumstances;
- child maintenance.
